Ministry Schedules

Sign Up To Become A Minister
Altar Servers

This Ministry is open to both children and adults.

Children of the Parish in grade 4 or higher are encouraged to sign up. Throughout the year, we hold training sessions until the child is comfortable assisting the Priest during Mass. A new Altar Server is always scheduled with an experienced one for the next several months.

There are also opportunities for adults to be Altar Servers. Adult Servers are needed for Funeral Services held during the week and school year. Adults wear their own clothing, and do not wear the robes while they serve. If you are interested in this Ministry and would like to be trained, we will arrange a training session.

Children's Liturgy
Let the children come to me and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these (Matthew 19:14)

Children's Liturgy brings the word of God to children 4th grade and under in a more relaxed setting.

Volunteers must have completed Protecting God's Children, made their Confirmation, and love to be around children.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion

This ministry assists with the smooth and reverent distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass. A candidate, under normal circumstances, has to be confirmed and at least 16 years of age.

This is a ministry of both invitation and challenge, for when Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion distribute from the plate or cup into the outstretched hands of the assembly, they not only invite the assembly to receive the Body and Blood of Christ, but they challenge the assembly to become it as well. Those who minister Communion are likewise invited and challenged. They are invited to serve the Body of Christ at the Eucharistic table and challenged to build up the Body by the way they live. Love for the Eucharist should be evident in a mature and lively faith which enables them to bring Christ to all they meet long after the liturgy has ended.

Greeter and Hospitality

The Church has always placed great emphasis on the virtue of Hospitality. We continue this service to warmly welcome the Parish Community and all visitors arriving to attend the weekend Masses.

The Greeters responsibilities include arriving 15 minutes before assigned Mass, welcoming all, and inviting worshippers to bring up the gifts at the Preparation.

It is one of the few liturgical ministries where a family can serve together. Young adults and children can also participate. It is a good opportunity for those needing service hours. A friendly smile is all that is needed to join this ministry.

The Lector/Reader proclaims the Word of God from the Old and New Testaments at Sunday and Holy Day Masses. There is an initial training session (and one training/prayer session each year) and Lectors are asked to take a little time to prepare and read the Scripture before Mass.

Books containing all the readings, with explanations as well as some word pronunciations are available for $10.00.

"Those who sing, pray twice," said St. Augustine. It is in that spirit that one should consider Ministry in music, but also note that this Ministry also helps to sustain the spirituality of the Parish Community itself. By helping the Parish to worship, either by leading a song, presenting music for meditation, or accompanying the Service, the Music Minister not only prays but also helps others to pray.

Music Ministry in our Parish can take many forms. The Cantor leads the singing at a service and helps the Congregation appreciate their role in a Liturgical setting. The Choir sings at special events and major Feasts. Even if you do not read music, you can be a member of the Choir. Regular attendance at rehearsals is a necessity. The Instrumentalist adds interest to the music at Worship and thus raises the level of solemnity. This skilled Musician should be able to read and play well in an ensemble setting.

The Sacristan prepares the Church for the celebration of the Eucharist by placing all the required vessels, books and hosts in their assigned positions prior to the start of Mass. At the end of Mass, the Sacristan stores all items in their proper places.

To aid the Sacristan, there is a checklist in the Narthex for pre- and post- duties.

The Usher Ministry is a great way to serve your fellow Parishioners and guests. This Ministry is available to all Parishioners, men and women, from high school age and up.

The duties of an Usher include seating the Congregation, organizing the collection as well as bringing it up at the Preparation, facilitating an orderly procession during the Eucharist, distribution of the Bulletin and set up and take down of extra chairs when needed.

The Usher is responsible for any special needs that may arise before or during the Mass. The Usher is also to check that all Ministers are present and to get substitutes for any position that may be vacant. These tasks are simple, but essential in ensuring that everyone feels welcome and comfortable in our Church.

Adult Altar Servers

The Parish is in need of Altar Servers for funeral Masses

Training will be provided. Most funerals are during the week and would require someone who is available at that time. There are weekend funerals as well, so please consider helping out if you are available.

If we can get a few volunteers, then we don't have to exhaust the few volunteers we keep depending on. This is a wonderful ministry to help others in their time of need and sorrow. Please contact the Parish office for more information.
