Each September, our Knights of Columbus Council participates in the nationwide Tootsie Roll Drive in support of Intellectual Disabilities charities. In recent years, we have annually raised between $5,000 and $10,000 in support of our charities. All the proceeds are donated to charity, and the vast majority stays local (including organizations such as Shady Oaks Camp, Trinity Services, and Cornerstone Services).
This year, our efforts are made much more difficult by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to restrictions and precautions by local government and local businesses, we will not be able to stand outside stores and restaurants to solicit in-person donations. Therefore, we are asking our parishioners to consider a donation to the cause to help make the drive a success this year.
Donations can be made in two ways. First, you can mail or drop off a check at the Parish, made payable to "Knights of Columbus 15022". Second, you may donate through our "Give Online" button. Click on the button at the top of the website, there is an option to donate to the Tootsie Roll Drive, among the other donation options for the Parish.
We will also have Knights outside of Church at all Masses the weekend of September 19-20, which would have been the designated weekend for the in-person drive. You are welcome to make your donation (and pick up your Tootsie Rolls!) in the usual way after you attend Mass. You can also just stop by to make a donation, and if you have already sent in a donation, please feel free to come by and pick up some Tootsie Rolls. Our parishioners have always been tremendously generous in contributing to the Knights of Columbus and our charitable efforts.
We thank you for continuing to support us at this challenging time.
